MissionNext President and CEO

Position:  President and CEO
Location:  USA
Job Description:

To lead the MissionNext organization in the accomplishment of the Board defined Ends Statements in accordance with its vision and core values. MissionNext has as a primary purpose, mobilization utilizing attractive, effective and highly functional Internet portals. Currently, Mission Agencies and International Christian Schools mobilize candidates for their positions on a local and global basis. With the recent implementation of a new website, additional portals will be easier to create, facilitating additional marketing segments. Becoming the CEO will not require relocation as staff reside in all US time zones.

Education: University graduate and/or equivalent missions or leadership experience.  

Key Duties:

The key duties of the MissionNext CEO are typical for a Christian ministry leader, as follows:

  • Operate within the guidelines and limitations as determined by the Board of Directors (BOD) according to a modified Carver model of governance
  • Periodically provide communication with the BOD, as mutually agreed
  • Serve as member of the BOD, participate and report in all BOD meetings
  • Oversee all day-to-day operations and direction of the organization
  • Maintain an operating philosophy that will assure the long-term sustainability of the organization.
  • Guide, refine and implement business models to serve selected business segments (partnership revenue stream)
  • Develop and implement organizational fund-raising activity
  • Be actively engaged in fund-raising efforts, the development and maintenance of donor relationships
  • Responsible for shaping and implementing overall vision and direction of the organization.
  • Give direction/supervision to developing initiatives:
    • Selection and development of the Executive Team and key staff
    • Serve and/or delegate as appropriate in all organizational events
    • Be the face and voice of MissionNext with partners and other mission related organizations

Education: University graduate and/or equivalent missions or leadership experience.

Requirements: 

Being successful in the MissionNext CEO position will require certain talents, skills and commitments. Capabilities in the following areas are expected to increase a candidate’s ability to perform well in this position:

  • Excellent communication skills: Is comfortable with public speaking, podcast interviews, etc.
  • Proven ability to provide and encourage transparent internal communications.
  • Spiritually mature—the candidate is deeply committed to the person of Christ.
  • Able and willing to travel, as needed to achieve the Ends Statements.
  • Comfortable leading a virtual organization: MissionNext does not have office space in favor of working from home offices and periodic staff retreats.
  • Fully and passionately embraces the mission, vision and core values of MissionNext.
  • Able to function with servant leadership values, including encouraging staff member empowerment, commitment, and motivation.
  • Effective in high performance team building – Currently, there are 20+ staff members in the MissionNext organization.

Preferences: Experience in the following areas will be preferred, but not required:

  • Prior effective ministry or marketplace experience
  • Good command of Scripture
  • A student of leadership trends: Familiar with and willing to read current writings in leadership
  • A student of missiology trends: Familiar with the mission agency world

Compensation:  A compensation package will be finalized and negotiated with the BOD. That package is subject to the following:

  • All staff of MissionNext either raise personal financial support or are self-supporting
  • MissionNext is a qualified 501(c)3 organization capable of receipting gifts and donations
  • Staff out of pocket business expenses are covered within the organization’s annual budget
  • All staff are responsible for their medical coverage. Several staff members are seconded to MissionNext from mission agencies which provide employee benefits.

Social Media Specialist (Part-Time)

Position:  Social Media Specialist
Location:  USA
Purpose:  To utilize a structured, multi-platform social media content strategy to create and maintain varied profiles attractive to MissionNext’s highly diverse audiences in ways that will resonate with them.

Key Duties:

  1. Plan promotional, interactive and resourceful content
  2. Manage, organize and follow up with contributions to and the implementation of the Social Media Calendar
  3. Tailor content to ministries, groups, and personas
  4. Coordinate with person(s) handling PR, Blog, Newsletter, giveaways, and MissionNext events
  5. Write social media posts (currently 4 Facebook accounts & 1 Twitter account; potentially Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest, or LinkedIn); use Buffer software to facilitate

Time Commitment:  This is a part-time, self-supporting position requiring 5-10 hours per week.

Staff Interaction:

  1. Maintains a Christ-like interactive relationship with other MN staff members.
  2. Reports to Marketing Director
  3. As a marketing team member, participate in weekly strategy meetings with others on the team and consultants.

External Communication:

  1. Community engagement and management. A few examples of this include: crafting or selecting giveaways; generating surveys from which data can be configured into stories; identifying or developing content; researching trends; and using especially Twitter daily for networking with potential and current agencies, mobilizing partners, future candidates, and more. Accomplishing this task may require learning additional software, such as Canva.

Education:  College graduate or equivalent experience.

  1. Experience in social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Canva, visual content) is desired.
  2. Skills in writing compelling content relevant to various generations, researching trends, understanding various generations (especially Boomers, Millennials and GenXers), strategic social media planning, integrating all social media tools and web offers like blogs are required.
  3. Personable, good communication and people skills, dependent on prayer, spiritually mature, good customer service skills, good team player, excellent relationships with supervisor and MissionNext leadership.
  4. Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), Office 365
  5. Have excellent analytical skills and strong attention to detail and the desire to research social media trends.
  6. Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills required. Excellent command of English language, grammar and style.
  7. Experience in web-based technology, Web system development and administration beneficial.
  8. Familiarity with planning and budgetary processes beneficial.

Webmaster (Part-Time)

Position:  Webmaster

Location: USA

Purpose: To provide overall web support for MissionNext websites and hosting environment.

Key duties: Provides technical expertise and support of MissionNext’s website and hosting environment.  Makes recommendations and implements performance improvements, web security tools, website programming and design, and configuration management.

Time Commitment:  This is a part-time, self-supporting position requiring 10-20 hours per week.

Staff Interaction:

  1. Maintains a Christ-like interactive relationship with other MN staff members.

Logistics:

  1. Work with web Ministry Directors and VP of Program Development to develop, maintain and support new and existing websites.
  2. Work with web Ministry Directors and graphic designers to create and refine, compelling graphic design for websites.
  3. Install updates to plugins, themes, and other web components, implement changes in web infrastructure, adding/changing/removing web pages while ensuring security, speed, functionality, and reliability.
  4. Develop methods to test new plugins, web changes, and other new content without impacting customers
  5. Provide training as needed to enable MissionNext staff to implement web text, image and video content.
  6. Communicate to the web Ministry Directors and MissionNext leadership on web development progress, security issues and scheduled downtime.
  7. Use trouble ticket system to track and resolve reported problems on production websites.
  8. Maintain complete integrity and biblical standards in all aspects of development.
  9. Other responsibilities as assigned.

Education:

  1. College graduate in computer science, engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.

Experience and skills:

  1. Accomplishments and track record in web infrastructure, design, and support. Personable, good communication and people skills, dependent on prayer, spiritually mature, demonstrated expertise in web development tools, (themes, plugins, PHP, HTML, and CSS coding), IT infrastructure including web domains, security and hosting.

Office 365 Desktop Support and Administration (Part-Time)

Position:  Office 365 Desktop Support and Administration
Location: USA
Purpose: Provide overall administrative support for Office 365 at MissionNext

Key duties:

Staff Interaction:
1. Maintains a Christ-like interactive relationship with other MN staff members.

Time Commitment:  This is a part-time, self-supporting position requiring 5-10 hours per week.

Logistics:

  1. Support the Microsoft Office365 environment at MissionNext (about 20-30 staff members)
  2. Provide training for MissionNext staff to fully utilize the capabilities of Microsoft Office products
  3. Assist as needed to add email and Office365 accounts for new users
  4. Troubleshoot and support desktop handling issues of low to medium complexity while working remotely
  5. Provide support for local desktop nationwide for both PCs (XP to Windows 10) and MAC OSX
  6. Respond to calls, emails or other requests for support.
  7. Maintain complete integrity and biblical standards in all aspects of development
  8. Other responsibilities as assigned.

Military Mobilization Analyst (Part-Time)

Position: Military Mobilization Analyst
Location: USA
Purpose: Develops and executes strategies to mobilize separating military for positions as Kingdom Workers.

Key Duties:        

Time Commitment:  This is a part-time, self-supporting position requiring 10-20 hours per week.

Staff Interaction:

  1. Maintains a Christ-like interactive relationship with other MN staff members.
  2. Strives to create an affirming environment with staff. Promotes a culture of constant process improvement in the planning and execution of events.

External Communication:

  1. Works closely with MN partner agencies, military chaplains, para-church military ministries and churches – listening to their stated needs, communicating the benefit of military mobilization, and promoting MissionNext as an effective tool for their consideration.
  2. Provides editorial content for social media websites and blogs through solicitation or direct preparation.

Strategic Planning & Execution:

  1. In conjunction with the VP for Military Mobilization, develops and executes strategies to position MissionNext to effectively mobilize separating military for positions as Kingdom Workers.
  2. Through collaboration with stakeholders in para-church ministries, churches and military chapel programs, develops specific activities to challenge military personnel to consider Kingdom work as an alternative to traditional secular work.
  3. Assists stakeholders in casting the vision for military personnel to see how their God-provided leadership and skills are a perfect fit for Kingdom work.
  4. Coordinates all details essential for a successful event, including meals, schedules, coaches, speakers, music, housing, and materials.
  5. Communicates in a patient manner with coaches and staff under sometimes stressful conditions.
  6. Prepares annual budget and closely monitors financial results.

Logistics:

Education: College graduate desired

Experience: Extended active duty time in any military service and familiarity with military ministry groups, chapels, and military-focused churches is highly desired.

Requirements:

  2. Personable, excellent verbal and written communication skills, dependent on prayer and spiritually mature.
  3. Since there is no office space for this position. The incumbent will work from home using his/her own computer and high-speed internet. There is no in-person contact, other than at events. Day-to-day contact is via email, telephone and video conferencing.
  4. The time commitment will vary greatly depending on the schedule – typically 16-20 hours per week.
  5. This is a self-supporting position. Expenses for approved travel are reimbursed.
  6. Travel to events and meetings is required.
  7. Due to the virtual nature of our teamwork, the candidate must be a self-starter, willing to stay on task without regular face-to-face interaction.

Purpose: Increase the number of MissionNext partnerships by helping mission organizations and schools see the benefits of MissionNext services for their recruitment needs.

Key duties: Develop and implement a comprehensive sales strategy for attracting mission organizations into a financial partnership with MissionNext.

Position:  VP of Operations

Purpose:  To make sure that business and financial affairs of MissionNext are conducted in a God-honoring manner, and that Leadership has access to information necessary to make informed strategic and tactical decisions

Key Duties:  Oversee all financial matters relating to the ministry; Prepare and analyze reports as necessary for MissionNext Leadership and Board of Directors; Manage budgeting, payroll, supply purchasing, insurance processes; Official organizational and internal document control; Ensure compliance with all IRS, ECFA and State requirements; Arrange for and participate in the annual CPA review of financial information and operations; Manage bookkeeping and other Team Members as assigned

Position:  Journey Guide
Location:  USA
Purpose:  Assist Candidates in the Decision to Take the Next Step in Missions

Key Duties:
Contact those who post profiles on the Finishers Project and MissionXplore websites to encourage them in their decision to explore opportunities in missions. Maintain complete integrity and biblical standards in all aspects of mentoring. Work with and report to the Journey Guides Director.

Time Commitment:  This is a part-time, self-supporting position requiring 5-10 hours per week.

  1. Maintains a Christ-like interactive relationship with other MN staff members.

Logistics:

  1. Other responsibilities as assigned.

Education:
College Education Preferred

Experience:
Background in mentoring, encouraging, and assisting others in life stages and circumstances; a proven networker.
